Galaxy! is a modernized browser-game tribute to early tactical starship command games. It uses original naming and visual design while preserving the strategic spirit of quadrant exploration, resource management, enemy pursuit, and supply-base support.
The game is designed as a modern, original tribute to early tactical space-command games with a visual command-console interface.
Objective: locate and neutralize all hostile raiders before the mission deadline while preserving energy, torpedoes, shields, and ship systems. The green Aegis marker now faces the most recent successful movement course.
NAV Open navigation control, choose a course, and engage warp movement. The Navigation HUD can be dragged by its title bar.
SRS Refresh the tactical sector view and update local condition.
LRS Display long-range scan data for nearby quadrants.
BEA Allocate energy to beam arrays against local raiders.
TOR Fire one pulse torpedo on a selected course.
SHE Raise or lower shields by transferring reserve energy.
DAM Review system damage and authorize dockside repairs when adjacent to a supply base. Docking and resupply are automatic when the ship is in any of the eight surrounding sectors next to a base; the base itself remains an obstruction and cannot be occupied.
COM Open mission computer functions for galactic record, status, torpedo data, base navigation, course calculation, and region map.
The forward view screen shows a randomized twinkling star field and any objects lying directly ahead on the current command course. Subwarp movement produces a short forward-expansion pulse; warp movement produces a tinted star-streak tunnel whose color changes with whole-number warp speed. Click the smaller Mission Log to open a larger scrolling log.
ESC Close open modal and HUD panels.
N NAV, B BEA, T TOR, H SHE, D DAM, C COM, G LRS, R SRS. Use ? for Help.
Recent refinements: the Aegis marker faces its last successful movement direction, hostile raiders use a clearer ship silhouette, subwarp travel lingers longer on the forward view screen, and navigation/weapons/shields use compact HUD controls that keep the tactical display visible.
The optional command box accepts three-letter command codes. Damaged systems can limit navigation, sensors, weapons, shields, or computer support until repaired at a supply base. Supply bases are support structures, not landing squares: approach an adjacent sector to dock.
Allocate energy to the beam arrays. Beam energy is divided across all hostile raiders in the current sector and weakens with distance.
Beam attacks consume energy immediately. Surviving raiders may return fire unless the ship is docked.
Fire one pulse torpedo along a course. The torpedo tracks through the local sector until it hits a raider, star, supply base, or leaves the quadrant.
Course numbers follow the same compass used by navigation: 1 east, 3 north, 5 west, 7 south.
Transfer power between reserve energy and defensive shields. Higher shields absorb raider fire before reserve energy is damaged.
Docking at a supply base restores reserve energy and torpedoes, then lowers shields for safe support operations.
Review ship system status. When docked beside a supply base, repairs can be authorized at the cost of mission time.
Operational systems read as clear. Damaged systems reduce or block related commands until repaired.
Choose a difficulty profile before generating a fresh galaxy. Training gives more time and lighter raider pressure; Veteran tightens the deadline and increases combat risk.
Technical summary: Galaxy! is a standalone single-file HTML/CSS/JS game built for a 1600 x 900 command-console stage. It uses original terminology, original UI styling, and a browser-local save system.
Release candidate summary: this build is ready for broad play-testing, with final review focused on balance, rare state bugs, and presentation polish.
Expanded scrolling record of command events, warnings, combat reports, and mission status.
