Program Notes
MoleculeView Lite is designed as a focused viewer rather than a full chemistry editor. It provides a modern interface for rotating, zooming, styling, importing, and inspecting molecular structures.
- An expanded built-in sample library provides basic, organic, aromatic, medicine, biochemistry, and DNA/RNA examples.
- Local file import is handled in the browser; imported files are not uploaded.
- PubChem lookup requires internet access and can retrieve structure and metadata for many common compounds.
- Explorer tools include render presets, atom labels, an element legend, PNG snapshot export, and favorites.
- The interface includes a theme toggle and responsive layouts for desktop, iPad landscape, and iPad portrait testing.
- Export tools can save the current structure data, generate XYZ coordinates, or create a ZIP bundle containing OBJ/MTL visual mesh files for 3D modeling applications.
Supported Import Formats
SDF, MOL, PDB, XYZ, and MOL2 are supported for local import. Rendering support depends on the structure data available in the selected file.
